# Can I customize outreach templates?

Yes. Every draft is fully editable inline on the lead detail page — change the subject, body, or LinkedIn note and click **Save**. Edits are stored per-lead, so your changes never overwrite the AI draft on other leads.

## What you can change

The AI draft has 3 editable parts: subject line, email body, and LinkedIn note. Edit any of them, all of them, or none. LemAudit does not enforce a tone or structure on your edits. The original AI version stays cached, so a later **Regenerate** restores it if you decide your edit went too far.

Think of it like Google Docs suggestion mode. The base text is there; your edits live on top.

## How LemAudit stores edits

Edits write to leads.outreach_email_draft (and leads.outreach_linkedin_draft) and trigger a "draft_edited" event in the [activity timeline](/help/leads/what-information-does-a-lead-detail-page-show). Re-auditing the lead does not overwrite your edited draft — LemAudit keeps your version unless you click **Regenerate**.

For agency-wide changes (a different brand voice across every new lead), edit the prompt template in **Settings → Outreach → AI prompt**. That changes how every future [email](/help/outreach/how-do-ai-outreach-emails-work) and [LinkedIn note](/help/outreach/does-lemaudit-generate-linkedin-messages) is generated for new leads, without touching existing drafts.

## Worked example

An agency targeting law firms found the default tone too casual. They edited the prompt template once. The note read: "use a formal, third-person voice. No contractions. Reference the practice area when possible." From then on, every new draft for a law-firm domain opened with "Smith & Co — our analysis indicates…". The old "Hi — we noticed…" was gone. Reply rates from that vertical went from 6% to 14% over 4 weeks.

## When this isn't right

If you rewrite every draft from scratch, the prompt is the wrong fit, not the AI. Tweak the prompt instead of editing every lead. For other languages (Spanish, French), edit the prompt with the target language. Gemini Flash translates well but it defaults to English.
